The Brooklyn Nets are in for a tough one. The San Antonio Spurs are easily one of the league’s best team, and some may even make the case they are the best team. Most would agree, though, that Gregg Popovich is the league’s best head coach, though.
The Spurs were 13-0 on the road until the lost a four-point game to the Chicago Bulls Thursday night. After the loss, Popovich was not happy to say the least.
Having Pop go off on his team the game before the lowly Brooklyn Nets come to visit them at their home, where in previous seasons they have been unbeatable (5-4 this year), is not a good sign. Add in that Brooklyn has historically been terrible against San Antonio and even worse while playing in Texas.
The good news for Brooklyn is that Jeremy Lin finally returned to practice and that Caris LeVert is finally getting some minutes. LeVert may see a good amount of minutes tonight as the Nets are projected as 15 point underdogs.
Many experts and fans do not see Brooklyn coming away with a win in this game. There is always hope, but, especially without Jeremy Lin, this game is almost a guaranteed loss. Fortunately, it is the NBA where nothing is a guarantee.
If Brook Lopez and Trevor Booker can give LaMarcus Aldridge and Pau Gasol a run for their money as well as Brooklyn somehow stopping Kawhi Leonard, they could stand a chance. No one has been able to stop Kawhi this season, though, and, with Brooklyn’s dismal defense, I do not see them accomplishing what the rest of the league hasn’t Saturday night.
This will be a tough game and it very well may end up being an ugly game too. Brooklyn fans need to keep their heads up with this one despite the ferocity of the Spurs because Jeremy Lin is on his way back and Sean Marks is turning the Nets into the new Spurs little by little.
