Brooklyn Nets vs Chicago Bulls 1/29/19 Postgame Notes and Observations

In a somewhat sloppy affair the Nets were able to do enough to close out the win over the Bulls. Napier and Russell both provided the offensive spark as Brooklyn got back on the winners list. Here’s how it went down.

1st Quarter:

  • Easy 2-point jumper for D’Lo to kick the scoring off
  • Awesome 2-man game with Rodions and D’Angelo
  • Smooth finish from Allen off the catch from Harris
  • Good feel around the rim from Russell
  • Nets have started shooting 4/18 from the field
  • Bulls on a 7-0 run
  • Thank the lord for that Rondae three
  • Sensational no-look pass to Carroll for the layup from Shabazz
  • Davis tip in off the Napier miss
  • Nets on a 7-0 run of their own
  • Brooklyn snatch the lead for the first time on the Carroll buzzer beater off an initial hustle play from Russell
  • 20-19 Nets way to end the first

2nd Quarter:

  • Wonderful feed from Rondae to Davis and even better positioning and finish from the big man
  • Chicago call an early timeout off a great feed to Hollis-Jefferson for the flush
  • A shooters roll from the elbow for Rondae
  • Davis dunk off the D’Lo delivery
  • Great aggression from Rondae in attacking the rim
  • Another beautiful pick and roll play from RHJ and D’Lo
  • Joe Harris nails the three as the shot clock expires
  • Bulls on a 7-0 run to give them a 9-point lead
  • Nice finish on the drive through contact from Kurucs
  • Napier earns the three off the steal on the defensive end
  • Back to back threes for Shabazz
  • Nets finish the quarter with a 54-50 deficit  

3rd Quarter:

  • Russell makes the lay in for the first score of the second half
  • Backs it up with another bucket
  • Strong move by Harris to the rim
  • D’Lo nails the three off a feed from Allen
  • Great purpose from Graham as he drives for the basket
  • Tough floater made by Russell to give the Nets a slight buffer
  • Napier’s three has looked more confident as the game has progressed
  • Sleek mid ranger from Shabazz
  • Gets the shot blocked initially but somehow D’Lo gets it back and makes the mid ranger
  • Love seeing D’Lo drive and using the shot clock well
  • Nets lead 83-79

4th Quarter:

  • Russell draws a foul to start the quarter
  • Great offensive board leading to the extra look for Rondae
  • Napier nails the three without a shoe
  • Russell hits the three out of the timeout
  • Great finish on the reverse by Shabazz
  • Technical on RHJ after the offensive foul call
  • Napier with the corner three this time
  • This time Jim Boylan is called for the tech
  • Smooth footwork and finish from Allen showing aggression at the basket
  • Sensational screening and feed from D’Lo to Harris for the layup
  • DeMarre with the crucial mid ranger
  • Joey Buckets does what he does, make threes
  • Backs it up with a timely drive
  • Clutch free throws from Jarrett Allen
  • More clutch free throws from Harris too
  • Nets catch a break as the Bulls three is disallowed as Selden was out of bounds
  • Napier extends the lead to 7 with 20 seconds left
  • Nets close it out for the 122-117 win
