The Brooklyn Nets take the A train a few stops to Penn Station New York, walk up a flight or two of stairs and there they are ready to face their competition. This is a battle for territory. The battle of the boroughs. Brooklyn wants to be New York’s team over the Knicks who are 2-4.

Sitting at 3-4 and playing with that #BrooklynGrit, Brooklyn has been looking better than expected and even Marc Stein didn’t put them dead last in power rankings.

New York, though, has had its fair share of frustrations. Their offense is slacking and their defense, like Brooklyn, is pretty terrible. Phil Jackson has been frustrated with the Knicks, too. He wants more triangle offense, but the coach is not running it as often as Jackson would like.

With Jeremy Lin still out, the load is going to trickle down to Brook Lopez yet again. Joakim Noah is no easy task, but, after shutting Andre Drummond down like they did I have faith Lopez and Trevor Booker can go out there and make him work and struggle.

Randy Foye finally rejoined the Nets last night. Foye saw 14 minutes of action and scored three points. He will be worked back slowly, but he will get good minutes and production after a few more games. Brooklyn could use him during Lin’s absence so lets hope he can get his flow back soon.

Brooklyn needs to shut down both Derrick Rose and Carmelo Anthony in order to win this game. Porzingis is a great player but he cannot win on his own. If Brooklyn can shut down New York’s shooters, there is a real chance of victory.

The Nets want to take New York and it starts here; dominating the rivalry. Brooklyn needs to beat down the Knicks every time they play in order to take over New York. Brooklyn may not be good and may not take over New York this season, but, things will turn around for Brooklyn and, maybe one day, Brooklyn Nets will be New York’s beloved basketball team.
