On July 13 this summer I emailed Doc in California and asked him how Lin was doing in his workouts. He wrote back:
“Physically he looks strong. He’s fit and working hard at mastering his shooting. His shot looks great and I think you ll see a big jump in his shooting proficiency this year with Nets. He just needs to trust his mechanics and believe!”
While most national and local beat writers seem to think the Nets as constructed won’t win many games and is likely to be among the three worst teams in the NBA, I disagree.
Nets fans can expect to see is a lot more W’s for their team than these writers predict.
Win or lose, though, one thing’s for sure: Nets fans at Barclays Center can expect to leave the arena having gotten their money’s worth, which is something they weren’t able to say much of last year–unless they were rooting for the Cavs, Spurs, or Warriors.
The Nets will own their own house this year. Or die trying to.
Even when the Nets don’t win this season, Lin, Brook Lopez, and the mostly young, athletic talent new GM Sean Marks has assembled will be fun to watch, always play hard, and leave it all on the court.
And yes, inevitably on a night when Lin explodes for a near triple-double to lead the Nets to victory, you will see the back pages of the Post and News shouting:
“LINSANITY!”
And so it goes.
