Brooklyn Nets vs New York Knicks Postgame Notes and Observations 1/25/19

Brooklyn took down their borough rivals with a 119-109 win over New York. It wasn’t the prettiest of victories as shooting and scoring seemed hard to come by at stages. Nonetheless, it was the Nets sixth win on the trot, and here’s how it unfolded.

1st Quarter:

  • Great speed by Kurucs for the first basket
  • Joey Buckets for three
  • Another great drive from Rodions
  • And another three for Harris
  • Knicks on a 7-0 run to establish a 6 point lead
  • Shabazz slides in for the two
  • Vonleh (14 PTS) is almost beating the Nets (16 PTS) by himself
  • Davis cleans up the Carroll miss with the putback dunk
  • Nice attack from Russell to get to the rim
  • Napier’s drives have been positive so far
  • Nets end the quarter with a 37-30 deficit

2nd Quarter:

  • Russell gets called for his 3rd foul on the first defensive play of the quarter
  • Davis cleans up the fancy drive from Napier
  • Rondae gets his herky jerky jumper goin’
  • Pinson hits his first three of the night
  • Ed Davis goes bang again
  • Make that two threes for Pinson
  • 3 threes for Pinson
  • Napier backs it up with one of his own to reduce the deficit to 4
  • Pinson follows up on his own miss for the lay in
  • Harris’ layup gives the Nets their first lead since 12-11
  • Hustle play from Napier on the steal
  • Carroll notches his first points of the game on the drive
  • All tied up at 60 at the half

3rd Quarter:

  • Allen denies Vonleh’s dunk attempt to add another name to his list
  • Smooth move by Graham to get good positioning down low
  • Kurucs is a beast in transition
  • You can’t stop this kid on the break
  • Nice pick and roll action with D’Lo and Allen
  • Graham nails the three off a feed from Russell
  • Smooth mid ranger from Rondae
  • The steal from RHJ is rewarded with a transition bucket
  • Sleek two man game with Napier and Davis

4th Quarter:

  • Davis gets the block on one end and runs hard in transition to get the feed from Russell for the slam
  • Great recognition from Rondae to dish it off to Davis to for the dunk and and one
  • Solid hustle play from Rondae again to get his own miss and the offensive put back
  • Russell hits the three
  • Ed Davis is a god damn monster
  • A D’Lo three extends the lead to 15
  • Knocks in the mid ranger for good measure
  • Damn Rondae can’t catch a break as he collides heads with the Knicks defender
  • Mitch Creek sighting
  • Nets finish with the 109-99 win
