Happy Friday the 13th, everyone. The Nets’ luck cannot get much worse after suffering an eighth straight loss to the New Orleans Pelicans last night at home after a terribly sloppy fourth quarter performance. Now, to make matters worse, Brooklyn travels up above the border to take on Atlantic Division leaders in the Toronto Raptors.
There is not much Brooklyn can do to come away with the win, especially on the road where they are 1-17 on the season. But it is Friday the 13th, maybe the black-wearing Brooklyn can bring bad luck to the Raptors and end Brooklyn’s losing-streak?
Brooklyn will be challenged with both DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry again. DeRozan is a top scorer in this league and all of Brooklyn Nets basketball knows what Kyle Lowry can do to them. The challenge may be tougher than anticipated with Isaiah Whitehead being listed as questionable.
If Whitehead cannot go, look for more of Rondae Hollis-Jefferson strictly for defensive purposes. Brooklyn will need to slow this duo down somehow, so might as well put their best defenders on their best scorers, even if your best defender cannot score points.
Brook Lopez is going to need more looks. For the dominant scorer that he is, especially on this 8-30 team, they should be feeding him the ball as much as they possibly could. No more 40+ three-pointers attempted; feed the ball down lot to Brook Lopez.
This will be a very tough one, especially after a tough loss last night. The team may be fatigued, but they will still need to fight all 48 minutes of this one to win. Can the streak be broken or will Brooklyn find more bad luck on Friday the 13th?
