Brooklyn Nets vs. Philadelphia 76ers 12/18/16 Recap and Player Grades

Brooklyn Nets vs. Philadelphia 76ers 12/18/16 Score

The Brooklyn Nets lost a game that they needed to win and should have won. The Brooklyn Nets lost to the Philadelphia 76ers in Philly 108-107 to fall to 7-19 on the season. The Sixers, the basement of the league, rose to 7-20 on the season, a half game worse than the Nets on the year. Joel Embiid was the dominant force everyone excepted him to be in this game. Embiid put up 33 points on 12-17 shooting, including 2-3 from long range. Embiid also grabbed ten rebounds and stole two balls and blocked three shots. Needless to say, he embarrassed the Nets in this one. For Brooklyn, Brook Lopez led the way with 22 points. Right behind him was bench man Joe Harris with 19 points. Harris shot 7-13 overall and 5-9 from three-point range. Jeremy Lin played 22 minutes and scored 16 points on 5-10 shooting including only 2-7 from downtown. Lin also added in four assists and two steals. Brooklyn was winning this game all the way until the fourth quarter, where they got outscored by only four points. Those four points were important, though, as only one of those four separated the two teams.

Grading the Players Joe Harris and Brook Lopez get A’s for tonight. Lopez scored 22 points on 6-14 shooting and 9-10 from the charity stripe. Lopez also had nine rebounds and eight assists. He was surprisingly close to a triple-double despite getting outmatched by Joel Embiid. Joe Harris had one of his games where he is on fire. Harris scored 19 points on 7-13 from the field and 5-9 form three. Harris also stole two balls on the night. As a result of his solid play, Harris was on the floor for 28 minutes on the night. Sean Kilpatrick gets a C on the night. Skilpatrick only scored seven points on 2-5 shooting. For a shooter, he did not shoot the ball very much in this one. Brooklyn expects and needs more from Kilpatrick in order for them to stay competitive and win games. Brooklyn will head to the Atlantic Division leaders up in Toronto to face-off with the Raptors on Tuesday night. The Sixers will stay in Philly to take on the lowly Pelicans on Tuesday night as well.
