Grading the Players There are a few players tonight that receive the coveted “A” grade. Trevor Booker, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, and Sean Kilpatrick all receive A’s. Trevor Booker notched another double-double scoring 12 points on 5/9 shooting while snagging 13 rebounds. Booker also got a steal and two blocks on the defensive end of the ball. This stat line is exactly what Brooklyn needs from Booker. Hollis-Jefferson looked significantly better tonight than he had in any other game played all season. RHJ scored 11 points on 4/5 shooting along with 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals. Seeing RHJ back in his flow was a relief even though he did foul out later in the game. Lastly, Sean Kilpatrick gets the last A of the night. Although he did not shoot well, Kilpatrick was on the floor at the end of the game. Coach Atkinson knows this kid can score and will not lose confidence on rough shooting nights. Scoring 19 off of the bench and providing a spark when it is needed is something not many teams have. Brooklyn is very fortunate for Sean Marks finding this baller because he can play and play very well. I’ll give Brook Lopez a B- due to the fact that this seven foot man cannot seem to get any rebounds. Playing early 30 minutes at his height and only bringing down three rebounds is pitiful. Lopez also needs to shoot a better percentage as he shot less than 50% tonight. I do like how he is can stretch the floor now. Lopez made an additional two three-pointers tonight. Getting C’s are Isaiah Whitehead and Bojan Bogdanovic. I feel like Whitehead should be lower than a C but I am cutting him a break for getting thrown into the starting lineup. A starting point guard needs to dish out more than three assists but the eight points on 4/9 shooting is respectable enough. Whitehead did snag two steals and block a shot so that makes up for the lack of assists, giving him the C grade. The Croatian did score 14 points but he did it on an abysmal 4/17 shooting and that includes 2/9 from long range. Bojan will hit shots, but if he is off, he is off. Brooklyn cannot afford this many missed shots from any player on their team. Bojan needs to realize when he has off nights and try to create shots for himself and others beyond the three-point line. No one, thankfully is deserving of anything lower than a C. This was a solid performance against a tough team without our starting point guard whom also happens to be our star and leader. Brooklyn continues their home stand and will face off with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Election Tuesday, November 8th. Charlotte travels back home to take on Paul George and the Pacers on Monday night. Good effort from the boys tonight. The young Wolves will surely provide a fight, but a great show and game at the same time.
